July 2nd, 2009

Human Recognition Systems (HRS) was recently invited to address senior police officers and forensic teams at a special Continuous Professional Development event held by the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA) and The Fingerprint Society at Derbyshire Constabulary HQ.

At the event - which was attended by over 140 specialists - HRS' Product and Partner Manager Jon Busby - advised how to increase detections through a series of presentations explaining the benefits of iris recognition and its potential applications in the police service.

Mr Busby was joined by speakers including Ian Gledhill - Head of Remote Transmission at the National Police Improvement Agency, Keith Edwards - Head of the National Footwear Database Project and David Bryson and Emma Seal - respective heads of Surgical Implants and Facial Identification at the Derbyshire Constabulary.

Neil Norman, CEO of Human Recognition Systems said: "It is vital that UK police forces and security professionals are kept fully up-to-date with pioneering biometrics technology designed to aid crime prevention.

"In a few days time, HRS will be at the Homeland and Border Security Conference at London's Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, where we will be demonstrating the latest in mobile biometrics and intelligent video analytics - and showing how this technology can be used to significantly reduce the risk of terrorism and other crimes."

Geoff Dexter, Principal Scientific Support Officer at Derbyshire Constabulary HQ said: "Developing better ways of proving people’s identity lies at the heart of the drive to combat terrorism as well as organised and serious crime".

"We are dedicated to supporting a wide range of projects in identification and biometrics - and consulting the leading technology companies in the sector is fundamental to our future success in this area."
